Hello. The issue is easy to describe: software updates won’t download. The
synchronization is ok, I get all the metadata – but there is no possibility to
download the update files. Configuration:
Site server:
MP, DP, Console, DB on a remote server, no Internet connection
WSUS server:
WSUS (uses its own db, located on the same server), SUP role installed,
connected to the Internet
As I’ve sad, synchronization goes fine.
What I’ve found till now, is that: “Remember, WSUS is used only for the
synchronization of software updates metadata (!) and for clients to retrieve the
software updates metadata that will be scanned for compliance” So, it is not
WSUS and not a SUP role, that downloads the update file. The question is, what
role or subsystem is downloading it? Which server in that configuration should
have Internet access? May be I should install some specific role on the WSUS
server to get it work? What I see in logs is that the site server is trying to
connect to microsoft update site, and, of course, fails

The log states, the component, that tries to download thise updates, is
“Software Updates Patch Downloader”. No info about it is found till now.
